This video offers a quick introduction to the field of Digital Scholarly Editing, situating it within the field of Textual Criticism. The second half of the lecture gives a quick demonstration of a Digital Scholarly Edition by highlighting some key features of the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project, and concludes by briefly relating this subject to the field of Library and Information Science.

Wout has given variations of these slides on many occasions, mostly for teaching purposes, to serve as a basic introduction to the field of Digital Scholarly Editing. This specific slideshow was developed in preparation of a workshop on TEI and XML, taught as part of the ‘Digitala Metoder’ course in the University of Borås’ International MA programme on ‘Digital Library and Information Services’ at the Swedish School for Library and Information Science. This class took place on Wednesday 3 February 2022. Wout currently works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Borås.
